Kathy (SHE/HER)
An avid gardener and preserver, Kathy is known far and wide for her mixed berry jam.
Kathy’s primary teacher background saw her establish a number of school kitchen gardens with the most recent at Clayton North Primary School taking out the Regional and Special Multicultural Award from the Victorian School Garden Awards. Kathy has worked on curriculum development with the Biological Farmers Association and worked at Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens running education programs to help primary school children understand biodiversity and food systems. Kathy brought our preserving program to life, building and supporting a great team of volunteers who form the backbone of the preserving hub.
Fave preserve: Tomato + Chilli Jam
Coffee order: Flat White

Hanna (SHE/HER)
Hanna first discovered the Corner Store Network when she heard Alice speaking on the radio about the Preservery.
Intrigued and excited to hear the program was running in her own neighbourhood of Oakleigh, she stopped by for a coffee—and left as a volunteer that very same day.
She loves the warm, welcoming atmosphere, where worries are left at the door and friendships bloom over jars and jams. For Hanna, volunteering is more than giving back, it’s her favourite kind of therapy.
Fave preserve: Anything with cumquats or olives
Coffee order: Long black or herbal teas

Robin (SHE/HER)
Robin found the Preservery thanks to a neighbour, and the timing couldn’t have been better.
She met Kathy, fell in love with the mission, and was instantly in. Having volunteered from a young age, she values connection, contribution, and the mental health boost that comes from being part of a like-minded community.
For Robin, it’s the little things—good chats, fresh fruit, and the joy of feeling useful—that keep her coming back.
Fave preserve: Pear and fig (“It’s divine!”)
Coffee order: Espresso or a classic latte

Deb (She/Her)
Deb came across the Preservery through a Facebook recommendation while on the hunt for volunteering opportunities.
On a sabbatical year travelling across Australia, she’s saying yes to new experiences—and CSN was a perfect fit. She loves hands-on tasks, relaxed conversation, and the simple joy of discovering new fruits and flavours she’s never encountered before.
For Deb, it’s a grounding, sensory experience that nourishes both curiosity and community.
Fave preserve: Compotes and strawberry guava
Coffee order: Latte
